FFES is excited and honored to provide our First Annual Cultural Summer Camp hosted by Onespot Campground in Bragg Creek, Alberta! Although our land for this camp is nestled in the beautiful foothills of Treaty 7 - home to the Dene peoples of the Tsuu Tina Nation, we are looking forward to welcoming youth from all communities.
We acknowledge the importance of the Traditional Land we will be learning from, and we look forward to allowing the youth to experience many of the healthy, contemporary and traditional lifestyles of Indigenous Peoples, fulfilling all aspects of the medicine wheel (spiritual, mental, physical and emotional). We are providing the opportunity for 20 enthusiastic participants (aged 12 to 18) to join us in a land-based learning journey that will facilitate reconciliation and community engagement as we move forward in a good way. The activities/teachings that will be provided include fishing, medicine harvesting, berry picking, traditional crafting, Elder mentorship/teachings, archery and Sweat Lodge protocol/ceremony.
A traditional menu will be served throughout the camp, before turning in for the night in the tee pees. The key to a great trip is a group of participants who are highly motivated to participate. FFES Cultural Camp is not the type of program where participants are sent against their own will. We select participants who express a strong desire to join our learning expeditions and contribute positively, which assures everyone of having the best possible group experience. You will return home with not only a variety of fascinating skills, but also with new friends and a true Indigenous Cultural experience.
Land based experiential learning is one of the most effective tools available for helping individuals learn and apply knowledge. Opportunities to process learning, one on one Elder mentorship and real-life experiences ensure a unique way of learning. We intend to enrich each participant’s personal growth, team building, leadership, and cultural enrichment through ensuring a safe and holistic space. within an outdoor setting.

FFES Environmental Ltd. is so excited to be able to have our Youth Camp at Onespot Crossing. Many thanks to Ginger and her team for helping us put this all together.
